Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Count Julius Iulii Ivanovich Stenbock (1812-1878), in green coat and pale grey waistcoat, black cravat tied in a bow; sky background by Henri Benner. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,850.71) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Benner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich, Later Emperor Nicholas I Of Russia (1796-1855), Circa 1821 in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,597.72).
