Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutch still Life With Game And Fruit by Hendrik Reekers was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in May 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,835.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrik Reekers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dahlias, nasturtiums, bourbon roses, poppies, astras and buttercups in a copper ewer with plums, grapes and peaches on a marble ledge in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 234,750.00 (€ 401,882.50).
