In October this year Christies in New York held the auction Made in Holland: Celebrating 50 Years of Christie’s Amsterdam, which included the work A landscape with a shepherdess and her herd near a house by a stream, a windmill and church beyond by Hendrik Meijer. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 8,190.00 17% above the upper estimate. Other works by Hendrik Meijer have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,339.37) in October 2004 for the work A wooded river landscape with peasants resting by a cottage.
