Auction result misses estimated price range

When this work without title by Hellen van Meene was auctioned at Phillips in London in February 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 125.00 (€ 163.50). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hellen van Meene achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Selected Images in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,453.60).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Hellen van Meene im Februar 2008 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 125,00 (€ 163,50) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hellen van Meene erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Selected Images im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.453,60).
