Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Hamada Shoji could be acquired at Sothebys in London in May 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Japanese Art auction, the work the stoneware vase of red clay body, brown glaze and hakeme white glaze depicting abstract grass and reed design, circa 1960 changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,081.46) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hamada Shoji have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hamada Shoji (1894-1978) in September 2006 with an auction result of USD 19,200.00 (€ 15,133.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Hamada Shoji konnte im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Fine Japanese Art wechselte die Arbeit the stoneware vase of red clay body, brown glaze and hakeme white glaze depicting abstract grass and reed design, circa 1960 für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.081,46) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hamada Shoji auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hamada Shoji (1894-1978) im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.200,00 (€ 15.133,60).
