Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Effet De Soleil Dans Les Nuages - Océan (Solar Effect In The Clouds, Ocean) by Gustave Le Gray for USD 22,500.00 (€ 19,316.62). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Le Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 887,927.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2017 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Effet De Soleil Dans Les Nuages - Océan (Solar Effect In The Clouds, Ocean) von Gustave Le Gray für USD 22.500,00 (€ 19.316,62) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Le Gray erzielen.
