Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy in Caoshu by Guo Moruo was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 14,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at HKD 107,100.00 (€ 12,131.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Guo Moruo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy In Xingshu in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 2,080,000.00 (€ 214,142.06).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy in Caoshu von Guo Moruo im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 14.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 107.100,00 (€ 12.131,31) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Guo Moruo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy In Xingshu im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.080.000,00 (€ 214.142,06).
