Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mappings: The Nation and the State by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh was sold in the The India Sale - South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art auction at Christies in Mumbai in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of INR 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of INR 2,250,000.00 (€ 31,344.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work How Can You Sleep Tonight? in March last year with an auction result of USD 2,040,000.00 (€ 1,838,997.57).

Die Arbeit Mappings: The Nation and the State von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion The India Sale - South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art bei Christies in Mumbai versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von INR 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von INR 2.250.000,00 (€ 31.344,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit How Can You Sleep Tonight? im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.040.000,00 (€ 1.838.997,57).
