Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,986.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work How Can You Sleep Tonight? in March last year with an auction result of USD 2,040,000.00 (€ 1,838,997.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh im Oktober 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.986,03) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit How Can You Sleep Tonight? im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.040.000,00 (€ 1.838.997,57).
