Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Between Memory and Music by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh was sold in the South Asian Modern & Contemporary auction at Christies in New York in September 2012. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 38,892.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work How Can You Sleep Tonight? in March last year with an auction result of USD 2,040,000.00 (€ 1,838,997.57).

Die Arbeit Between Memory and Music von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh wurde im September 2012 in der Auktion South Asian Modern & Contemporary bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 38.892,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gulam Mohammed Sheikh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit How Can You Sleep Tonight? im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.040.000,00 (€ 1.838.997,57).
