Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Contemporary Ink Art : Journey, which included the work Waves by Gu Gan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 81,250.00 (€ 9,561.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gu Gan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Concern With No Obstruction, which sold at auction in April 2007 for HKD 300,000.00 (€ 28,089.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2016 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Contemporary Ink Art : Journey durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waves von Gu Gan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 81.250,00 (€ 9.561,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gu Gan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Concern With No Obstruction beobachtet, die im April 2007 für HKD 300.000,00 (€ 28.089,31) versteigert wurde.
