In June 2018 Il Ponte held the auction Modern and Contemporary Art, which included the work The Amhearst Graduate by Gregory Gillespie. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 6,000.00 71% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gregory Gillespie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a Painter (formerly titled Dark Painter) in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 52,875.00 (€ 62,536.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 71 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2018 führte Il Ponte die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Amhearst Graduate von Gregory Gillespie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 6.000,00 und damit 71% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gregory Gillespie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a Painter (formerly titled Dark Painter) im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.875,00 (€ 62.536,96).
