In August this year Bonhams in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Mountains, c.1960 by Godfrey Miller. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 29,520.00 (€ 17,615.59), 64% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Godfrey Miller; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Australian Still Life With Fruit sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of AUD 55,200.00 (€ 33,397.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mountains, c.1960 von Godfrey Miller zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 29.520,00 (€ 17.615,59) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Godfrey Miller; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Australian Still Life With Fruit im April 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von AUD 55.200,00 (€ 33.397,28).
