Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The piazza and colonnade of Saint Peter's, Rome by Giuseppe Zocchi was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2005. The price achieved of USD 5,400.00 (€ 4,138.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giuseppe Zocchi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Tiber River, Rome, looking towards the Castel Sant'Angelo, with Saint Peter's Basilica beyond in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,207,500.00 (€ 1,108,306.56).
