Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Architectural Capricci With Figures Among Classical Ruins: A Pair by Giuseppe Zocchi for USD 25,000.00 (€ 23,161.02). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giuseppe Zocchi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Tiber River, Rome, looking towards the Castel Sant'Angelo, with Saint Peter's Basilica beyond in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,207,500.00 (€ 1,108,306.56).
