Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giuseppe Zocchi could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Old Master and 19th Century Paintings from the Collection of Jacob Elie Safra auction, the work Elegant Figures Seated In The Picture And Porcelain Cabinet Of A Palace changed hands for USD 290,500.00 (€ 211,811.88) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giuseppe Zocchi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Tiber River, Rome, looking towards the Castel Sant'Angelo, with Saint Peter's Basilica beyond in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,207,500.00 (€ 1,108,306.56).
