Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Allegory of Papacy by Giovanni Battista Gaulli was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,842.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Gaulli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Head And Shoulders in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 569,000.00 (€ 421,481.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Allegory of Papacy von Giovanni Battista Gaulli kam im Juli 2019 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.842,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Gaulli erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Head And Shoulders im Januar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 569.000,00 (€ 421.481,48).
