Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self Portrait Of The Artist Painting And Holding A Palette by Giovanni Battista Gaulli was sold in the The Otto Naumann Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 10,057.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Gaulli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Head And Shoulders in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 569,000.00 (€ 421,481.48).
