In September 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures, which included the work A view of the bay of Naples, Italy by Gioacchino La Pira. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 4,375.00 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gioacchino La Pira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bay of Naples; and Vesuvius erupting, which sold at auction in April 2001 for GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,259.73).

Im September 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A view of the bay of Naples, Italy von Gioacchino La Pira zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 4.375,00 und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gioacchino La Pira mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Bay of Naples; and Vesuvius erupting beobachtet, die im April 2001 für GBP 8.225,00 (€ 13.259,73) versteigert wurde.
