Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Crescita Scontro by Giò Pomodoro was auctioned at Sothebys in Milan in November 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 6,875.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giò Pomodoro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Studio per la Grande folla in November 2000 with an auction result of ITL 89,300,000.00 (€ 82,171.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Crescita Scontro von Giò Pomodoro im November 2019 bei Sothebys in Mailand versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 6.875,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giò Pomodoro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Studio per la Grande folla im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von ITL 89.300.000,00 (€ 82.171,61).
