Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Design For A Title Page: A Seated Peasant Smoking A Pipe By A Fenced Field With A Cow; And Five Further Studies Of Friesian Cattle (Pl. 5) by Gillis Smak Gregoor was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in December 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 375.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gillis Smak Gregoor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A traveller conversing with a milkmaid in a farmyard, in summer in May 2000 with an auction result of NLG 22,233.80 (€ 9,708.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Design For A Title Page: A Seated Peasant Smoking A Pipe By A Fenced Field With A Cow; And Five Further Studies Of Friesian Cattle (Pl. 5) von Gillis Smak Gregoor im Dezember 2014 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
