Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A pastoral scene with peasants and their cattle by Gillis Smak Gregoor was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,250.00. Admittedly, works by Gillis Smak Gregoor have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A traveller conversing with a milkmaid in a farmyard, in summer in May 2000 with an auction result of NLG 22,233.80 (€ 9,708.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A pastoral scene with peasants and their cattle von Gillis Smak Gregoor im Mai 2014 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.250,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gillis Smak Gregoor auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A traveller conversing with a milkmaid in a farmyard, in summer im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 22.233,80 (€ 9.708,22).
