Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self Portrait at Three Years Old by Gillian Wearing was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in London in October 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,144.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillian Wearing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album), which sold at auction in May last year for USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Self Portrait at Three Years Old von Gillian Wearing wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.144,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gillian Wearing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 63.000,00 (€ 58.708,41) versteigert wurde.
