This artwork by Gillette Elvgren achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2019. In the American Art Online auction, the work In a Lather sold for USD 112,500.00 (€ 102,096.38) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gillette Elvgren; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Fascination sold at auction in October 2015 with the realized price of USD 125,000.00 (€ 113,204.13).
