In January 2009 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work A woman dancing and playing the tambourine, a man playing the guitar, in an ornamental cartouche by Gilles-Marie Oppenord. The »bidding war« ended at USD 30,000.00 (€ 23,430.18), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gilles-Marie Oppenord - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Architectural capriccio with fountain and caryatids, an allegory of hunting in the foreground, which sold at auction in February 2024 for USD 56,700.00 (€ 49,554.27).
