In April 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Ralph Winstanley Wood, Esq. Of Pierrepont Place, Frensham by Gilbert Stuart. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,625.00 (€ 27,410.43), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gilbert Stuart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington (Vaughan type) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 11,562,500.00 (€ 9,907,883.46).

Of Pierrepont Place, Frensham von Gilbert Stuart zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.625,00 (€ 27.410,43) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gilbert Stuart erzielen.
