Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of Mrs Hammond Dorsey, seated three-quarter-length, by Gilbert Stuart. The price achieved of GBP 16,500.00 (€ 18,431.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gilbert Stuart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington (Vaughan type) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 11,562,500.00 (€ 9,907,883.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs Hammond Dorsey, seated three-quarter-length, von Gilbert Stuart zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 16.500,00 (€ 18.431,97) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gilbert Stuart erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit George Washington (Vaughan type) im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.562.500,00 (€ 9.907.883,46).
