Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Indian Hogan on the Plains by Gilbert Gaul was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 16,292.71). Admittedly, works by Gilbert Gaul have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Song Of Victory in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 146,500.00 (€ 118,441.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Indian Hogan on the Plains von Gilbert Gaul im März 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 17.500,00 (€ 16.292,71) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gilbert Gaul auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Song Of Victory im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 146.500,00 (€ 118.441,26).
