This artwork by Giacomo Quarenghi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2005. In the RUSSIAN PICTURES auction, the work The Palace at Kolomenskoe, near Moscow sold for GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,392.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giacomo Quarenghi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,147.58).
