Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work The Lying-In-State Of The Emperor Paul I, With A Guard Of Honour, In A Neoclassical Interior by Giacomo Quarenghi for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,290.60). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Giacomo Quarenghi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,147.58).
