Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in London held the auction The Lure of Naples: A Private Collection of Italian Views, which included the work The Campo Vaccino, Rome by Giacomo Quarenghi. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,223.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giacomo Quarenghi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,147.58).
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giacomo Quarenghi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 60.000,00 (€ 88.147,58).
