Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Design For Tutolmin'S Church And Possibly The Residence Of Von Grote by Giacomo Quarenghi was sold in the Russian Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in November 2014. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,857.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giacomo Quarenghi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,147.58).
