This price was achieved in the auction RUSSIAN PICTURES at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Giacomo Quarenghi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Four views of Bakhchiserai in the Crimea: Houses along the river; The walls of a mosque; A lane with a view of mountains; and A mosque among trees sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,147.58).
