The work Circus figures; and Two women by Gerrit Hondius was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2004. The price achieved of USD 1,075.50 (€ 893.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Circus figures; and Two women is the most expensive artwork by Gerrit Hondius that we have observed at auctions so far.
