The work Norwegian idyll by Gerhard Arij Ludwig Morgenstjerne Munthe was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings Including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works auction at Sothebys in London in November 2010. The price achieved of GBP 361,250.00 (€ 431,693.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Norwegian idyll is the most expensive artwork by Gerhard Arij Ludwig Morgenstjerne Munthe that we have observed at auctions so far.
