Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three men in a tavern, one taking snuff by Gerard ter Borch II was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in July last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 287,500.00 (€ 343,326.06) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerard ter Borch II - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Jan Craeyvanger (bapt. 7 September 1641-'died young'), three-quarter-length, in a grey costume with a white collar and a grey mantle, standing with a black hat in his right hand, in a painted oval; Portrait of Willem Craeyvanger (bapt. 31, which sold at auction in May 2009 for EUR 745,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Three men in a tavern, one taking snuff von Gerard ter Borch II wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 287.500,00 (€ 343.326,06) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerard ter Borch II mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Jan Craeyvanger (bapt. 7 September 1641-'died young'), three-quarter-length, in a grey costume with a white collar and a grey mantle, standing with a black hat in his right hand, in a painted oval; Portrait of Willem Craeyvanger (bapt. 31 beobachtet, die im Mai 2009 für EUR 745.000,00 versteigert wurde.
