The work Portrait of a man, bust-length by Gerard ter Borch II was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2015. It achieved a price of EUR 11,250.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 61 %. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard ter Borch II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Jan Craeyvanger (bapt. 7 September 1641-'died young'), three-quarter-length, in a grey costume with a white collar and a grey mantle, standing with a black hat in his right hand, in a painted oval; Portrait of Willem Craeyvanger (bapt. 31 in May 2009 with an auction result of EUR 745,000.00.
