In November 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings, which included the work Sophonisba receiving the poisoned cup by Gerard Hoet I. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,324.14), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gerard Hoet I have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mars paying homage to Venus in October 2013 with an auction result of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 44,324.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im November 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sophonisba receiving the poisoned cup von Gerard Hoet I zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.324,14) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gerard Hoet I auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mars paying homage to Venus im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.500,00 (€ 44.324,70).
