Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, which included the work The Widow Woman by Gerard Dillon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,108.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard Dillon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Dreamer in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 378,000.00 (€ 416,806.45).
