In May this year Christies in New York held the auction 20th Century Evening Sale, which included the work On the Old Santa Fe Road by Georgia O'Keeffe. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,885,000.00 (€ 7,400,976.16), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Georgia O'Keeffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 44,405,000.00 (€ 35,701,077.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the Old Santa Fe Road von Georgia O'Keeffe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.885.000,00 (€ 7.400.976,16) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Georgia O'Keeffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.405.000,00 (€ 35.701.077,34).
