Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Black Iris VI by Georgia O'Keeffe was worth USD 21,110,000.00 (€ 19,814,154.31) to a buyer in May this year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century Evening Sale at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 7,000,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Georgia O'Keeffe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 sold at auction in November 2014 with the realized price of USD 44,405,000.00 (€ 35,701,077.34).
