Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Supper by George Tooker was sold in the American Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2007. The price achieved of USD 240,000.00 (€ 178,398.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Tooker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coney Island, which sold at auction in December 2002 for USD 427,500.00 (€ 407,725.32).

Die Arbeit The Supper von George Tooker wurde im Mai 2007 in der Auktion American Paintings bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 240.000,00 (€ 178.398,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Tooker mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Coney Island beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für USD 427.500,00 (€ 407.725,32) versteigert wurde.
