Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Fishing boat on the Medway; and timber ship on the Medway by George Stanfield Walters for GBP 470.00 (€ 726.98). This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stanfield Walters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell This is not solitude! 'tis but to hold Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
