Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Lady Holding A Parasol by George Spencer Watson was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 16,974.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Spencer Watson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Orange Dress, which sold at auction in November 2013 for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 57,159.89).
