The work Dorothy, daughter of F.J. Elliott Esq. by George Spencer Watson was sold in the British and European Art auction at Christies in New York in July this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,280.91), 51% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Spencer Watson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Orange Dress sold at auction in November 2013 with the realized price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 57,159.89).

Die Arbeit Dorothy, daughter of F.J. Elliott Esq. von George Spencer Watson wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 30.240,00 (€ 35.280,91) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von George Spencer Watson; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Orange Dress im November 2013 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 57.159,89).
