Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Marcelle Azra Hincks, Countess Morphy, wearing a Spanish mantilla by George Spencer Watson was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2017. The price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,521.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Spencer Watson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Orange Dress in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 57,159.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Marcelle Azra Hincks, Countess Morphy, wearing a Spanish mantilla von George Spencer Watson kam im März 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.521,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Spencer Watson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Orange Dress im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 57.159,89).
