Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Wood Nymphs by George Spencer Watson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,033.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by George Spencer Watson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Orange Dress in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 57,159.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Wood Nymphs von George Spencer Watson kam im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.033,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Spencer Watson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Orange Dress im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 57.159,89).
