In April 2004 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art including Barbizon, Realist and, which included the work The Red Parasol by George Sheridan Knowles. Here, the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 20,315.00 (€ 10,286.08). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Sheridan Knowles - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Little Ones, which sold at auction in April 2006 for USD 31,200.00 (€ 24,714.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art including Barbizon, Realist and durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Red Parasol von George Sheridan Knowles zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 20.315,00 (€ 10.286,08) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Sheridan Knowles mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Little Ones beobachtet, die im April 2006 für USD 31.200,00 (€ 24.714,83) versteigert wurde.
