In May 2006 Christies in London held the auction The 10th Anniversary Irish Sale, which included the work The Starling Lake by George Russell. The auction ended at the price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 21,895.11), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ring-a-ring-a-roses, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 42,300.00 (€ 67,875.90).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion The 10th Anniversary Irish Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Starling Lake von George Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 21.895,11) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Russell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ring-a-ring-a-roses beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 42.300,00 (€ 67.875,90) versteigert wurde.
