Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit, which included the work Gazing Over The Lough, Co Donegal by George Russell. The price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,114.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Russell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ring-a-ring-a-roses in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 42,300.00 (€ 67,875.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gazing Over The Lough, Co Donegal von George Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 11.114,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Russell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ring-a-ring-a-roses im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 42.300,00 (€ 67.875,90).
